CANSSI is inviting Letters of Intent for the Collaborative Research Teams (CRT) program for projects beginning April 2022 and running through March 2025.
The CRT program fosters research and training interactions that span disciplines and institutions in order to tackle complex problems of broad importance for science, engineering, health, and society. A CRT project tackles research of sufficiently broad scope as to require a team of faculty, postdocs, and students spanning a range of specialties in statistical sciences during a three-year research and training agenda. A CRT project has a significant component that either develops new fundamental statistical sciences methodology and models and/or applying statistical sciences in an innovative way to a research problem in an NSERC-funded discipline. The scope of the research and activities must require support that is substantially more involved than is possible to pursue successfully with individual NSERC funding.
The CRT proposal process has two parts: submission of a Letter of Intent (LOI) and, if invited, submission of a full proposal. LOIs are due May 7, 2021 with evaluations to be completed by June 2021. CRT proposals are evaluated by an international Scientific Advisory Committee using external reviews. CANSSI and the Science Advisory Committee place a high priority on projects that involve innovative research and young faculty.
