Biostatistician, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University

The Canadian Network for Observational Drug Effect Studies (CNODES) seeks a biostatistician to join our research team.  CNODES is a network funded by the Drug Safety and Effectiveness Network of Health Canada and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, to provide timely responses to drug safety and effectiveness questions of public health and regulatory importance.

The biostatistician will work within the CNODES Methods Team, led by Dr. Robert Platt.  Responsibilities include support of CNODES’ query studies and conduct of drug safety-related methodological research.  The candidate will be expected to apply for peer-reviewed operating grant and salary support from funding agencies such as FRSQ and CIHR, or other appropriate funding agencies.

Candidates should have a PhD in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiologic methods, or related field, and demonstrated experience in research.  The following will be considered assets:

  • Experience with advanced methods in pharmacoepidemiology
  • Experience with large electronic health care databases
  • Strong computing skills
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience working in large teams

This is a 3-year term position whose appointment is tied to the CNODES grant. The position includes a non-tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in the faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Renewal is contingent on research productivity and on continued funding. Salary is competitive and is contingent on qualifications.  The position comes with a standard benefits package.

Qualifications:  A recent PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related field as long as the candidate has a strong foundation in statistics, along with appropriate postdoctoral experience.  Experience in pharmacoepidemiology would be helpful but not essential. We are looking for a highly-motivated individual with a desire to develop an independent research agenda.

To apply: Send a curriculum vitae, three relevant publications or manuscripts, a statement outlining your research interests, and contact information for three referees to Dr. Robert Platt, c/o Melissa Dahan (Melissa.dahan@ladydavis.ca).  (Posted August 2016, recruitment will continue until the position is filled).
