Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Statistical Methods for Epidemic Detection, Tracking, and Forecasting | University of British Columbia

The Department of Statistics at the University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellow under the supervision of Prof. Daniel J. McDonald. Opportunities for collaboration across the Department of Statistics, the Faculty of Science, and the UBC community will be available. Collaboration with members of Carnegie Mellon’s Delphi Research Group as part of its Insight Net Center will be emphasized. While the start date is flexible, the selected candidate will ideally begin no later than September 2024.

You will work with Prof. McDonald, his research team, and members of Carnegie Mellon’s Delphi Research Group to develop statistical methods for epidemic detection, tracking and forecasting, and their use in decision making, both public and private. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to develop statistical methods and apply them to real-world studies, author and co-author manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, disseminate research findings at professional conferences, collaborate with public health professionals, create and manage open-source software, and mentor other graduate students.

CANSTAT Clinical Trials Biostatistics Fellowship

The Canadian Network for Statistical Training in Trials (CANSTAT) is a Canadian Institutes of Health Research–funded pan-Canadian, multi-institutional platform with the objective of training and mentoring biostatisticians in clinical trials.

CANSTAT is inviting applications for its 2024–2025 Clinical Trials Biostatistics Fellowship program. This one-year program consists of three components:

  1. An experiential learning placement
  2. Online workshops
  3. Capacity-building (network) meetings

Each successful candidate will be mentored by a (bio)statistician and a clinician in one of the clinical trial units across the country.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Nicotine, Tobacco, and E-cigarette Clinical Research | University of Ottawa Heart Institute

The Ottawa Model for Smoking Cessation (OMSC) at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (UOHI) has a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in nicotine, tobacco, and e-cigarette clinical research that can be renewed contingent on performance. The salary is commensurate with experience (starting at $60,000 CAD per year) and includes 4 weeks paid holidays and paid statutory holidays. The fellowship includes contribution to statutory benefits (e.g., Employment Insurance and Canada Pension Plan) and enrollment in the Ottawa Heart Institute Research Corporation’s PDF Health and Dental benefit plan. Multi-year funding has been obtained to support this position, but successful candidates will be expected to apply towards competitive grants and awards.

The researcher is expected to be present in Ottawa but may work remotely as agreed upon by their supervisor(s). Office space will be provided.
