Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Bioinformatics | University of Calgary

The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Bioinformatics.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development, oversight and delivery of an undergraduate program in bioinformatics that is part of the Bachelor of Health Sciences undergraduate science education program in the Cumming School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver courses comprising a blend of lectures and laboratories to specialists and non-specialists at both junior and senior levels. Subjects will encompass a broad range of computational biology and bioinformatics topics, including analysis of ’omics data and the development of computer code for specialized applications. An emphasis is placed on introducing modern and innovative educational approaches to course and content delivery. Educational expectations include the integration of research into the undergraduate bioinformatics curriculum through supervising laboratory projects for students, and providing research advice and direction, mentorship and career guidance to the students in the program. It is expected that these research experiences will lead to publications in the research, and possibly educational, literature. The position also involves program oversight and curriculum development on an ongoing basis.

Simon Fraser University’s Centre for Advancing Health Outcomes (Advancing Health) has a position for a Statistician situated at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Under the supervision of Dr. Bohdan Nosyk, the Statistician will be embedded in the Health Economic Research Unit (HERU) and will provide expertise in the design and analysis of health research studies. Major responsibilities include: leading and contributing to statistical analysis of health administrative data, literature reviews, manuscripts, research dissemination, and other research-related activities; providing statistical advice to faculty, staff, and students; developing statistical analysis strategies; performing data analysis and evaluation; and interpreting and summarizing analyses and results for research reports and publications.

Tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor | Thompson Rivers University

Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia, launched a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Applied Data Science in September 2023. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking to hire a highly qualified individual for one tenure-track position beginning August 1, 2024, at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to teach courses in this Post-Baccalaureate program. The ideal candidate will also have the background to teach other graduate and upper-level Statistics courses. Examples of courses in the Post-Baccalaureate program that the candidate will be involved with include Introduction to Statistical Data Analysis, Data Visualization and Manipulation through Scripting, Regression for Applied Data Science, Design for Data Science, Multivariate Statistics for Applied Data Science, and Simulations for Modeling, Optimizing and Analysis. The successful candidate will also be expected to establish an independent research program and supervise student research and projects.
